Scheduling Your Child's Baptism

To schedule a Baptism at Saint Mary of Sorrows, parents must be registered members of the parish and attend a baptism preparation class. Please contact the parish office to begin the process.

When & Where

Baptisms are celebrated at the New Church (10500 Zion Drive) on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at 10:30 AM.

Preparation Class

Attendance at a Baptism preparation class is required. Classes are held on the third Monday of each month, 7:30–8:30 PM. Attendance within the last five years fulfills this requirement.

What You Need to Provide

• Completed Baptism Information Form (see links below)
• Copy of the child's birth certificate
• Godparent eligibility documents (see below)

Godparent Requirements

At least one godparent must be a fully initiated Roman Catholic in good standing:

• Baptized, confirmed, and receiving the Eucharist
• At least 16 years old
• If married, must be married in the Catholic Church
• Must provide a statement of eligibility from their home parish
• A maximum of two godparents is permitted (one male, one female)

Christian Witness

A baptized non-Catholic Christian may also participate as a Christian Witness alongside a Catholic godparent. No eligibility statement is required; they must simply be baptized and living according to the Gospel.
