Saint Mary of Sorrows offers many ways to serve both the parish community and our broader neighbors in need. Below are current volunteer opportunities — contact each ministry lead to get involved.
Collect and deliver gently used clothing and coats to House of Mercy in Manassas. Can be done year-round.

Setup, serve, and cleanup for the annual baby shower, or organize diaper and baby item collections.
Prepare evening meals monthly at Fairfax Presbyterian Church for those in need.
Handle phone calls one Monday monthly from social workers requesting assistance for rent, utilities, prescriptions, or food. Remote work available.
Help with monthly distribution of reusable pantry bags after Masses.
Support unhoused neighbors during colder months through meal service.
Setup, prepare, and serve during weekly parish Lenten dinners on Fridays.
Bring a hot protein breakfast for 40–50 people on the third Saturday monthly, 8–9 AM.
Organize collections of non-perishable food, cleaning, or hygiene items for delivery to Manassas.
Make sandwiches at home or volunteer on-site the fourth Sunday monthly, 4:00–7:30 PM.
Help decorate the church for Christmas and Easter celebrations.
Help maintain the historic cemetery at Fairfax Station.
